It is necessary to transplant flowers in March 2022 according to the lunar calendar, starting from the second ten days of the month.
The procedure is simple; at this time, most indoor flowers that were in a dormant period wake up. Dear readers!
For you, we have created communities on social networks in which useful articles and interesting ideas are published several times a day! Subscribe and receive useful content in a convenient format! In today's article we will talk about when to transplant, how to do it correctly and how to care for plants after the procedure.
How to understand that flowers need replanting
The indoor flower grows and develops, increases its green mass, increases the volume of its roots, and gradually the pot becomes too small for it. Therefore, transplantation is a natural process.
Usually the transplant is done in March, since after winter the plants begin to emerge from hibernation and actively grow. And for active growth they need space.
So, here are a few signs that a flower needs to be replanted in March:
- The pot has become too small. Gradually growing, the roots entwine the earthen ball. As a result, they have nowhere to get nutrients for the above-ground part, and the flower begins to fade. To prevent this from happening, you need to regularly replant it in a larger container.
- The soil in the pot has become sour. This can happen due to poor-quality soil and regular overflow, as well as the lack of drainage holes. When replanting due to acidification of the soil, it is important to clean the root system completely.
- Growth has stopped, there is no flowering. If your green pet is still young, but no longer grows or blooms, then it needs to be replanted. There can be two options: the roots have entwined the earthen ball, the soil has become depleted.
- Diseases and pests. If you see signs of disease or the presence of pests on a flower, you must immediately replant it. In this case, the infected parts must be removed using a sharp and disinfected instrument, and the sections must be treated with a fungicide solution.
ON A NOTE. Don't be surprised if the flower grows slower after replanting. First, the root system develops, and only then the above-ground part.
Working with indoor plants
This month there is already enough sunlight for the development and functioning of plants. First, let’s look at what kind of work should be done with house flowers in March:
- transplantation and transshipment,
- pruning, cuttings,
- the watering and fertilizing regime changes,
- germination of tubers and bulbs,
- division and reproduction of bulbous plants.
Recommendations for specific plants:
- hydrangea, fuchsia - transferred to a warm room, begin to water and feed
- begonia, gloxinia - time to send for germination
- ficus, hoya – shaping haircut
- succulents – end the dormant period, switching to summer mode
- ficus, dracaena, dieffenbachia and others - for better crown formation, turn once a week for uniform lighting.
Replanting indoor plants in March
Eucharis that needs replanting
Replanting indoor plants is an important point in caring for them. The reason is depletion and compaction of the soil, as well as the need for a larger pot for some plants.
Checking whether there is a need for replanting is quite simple - the plant must be removed from the pot. Do not pull the flower by the stem to avoid damaging it - just place one hand on the ground, passing the stem between your fingers, turn the pot over and remove it.
If the earthen ball is completely entwined with roots, replanting is necessary.
When to replant plants: from mid-February to the end of April.
In winter, most house flowers are in a dormant period, and in late spring and summer they are in an active growth phase.
Choosing a pot: do not choose too large - this will slow down the development of the flower. Pots 1-2 fingers wider than before will do.
Watering
Cacti and other succulents | Other plants |
Transplanted from dry soil to dry soil. | The procedure is best carried out the next day after watering. |
Do not water for at least three days after transplantation (except for Decembrist and epiphyllum). This is done to prevent the plant from rotting. | After transplanting, water thoroughly. The pot must have good drainage so that the soil does not stagnate. The next watering is after the surface dries. |
Repotting recommendations for individual plants
- during the process of transplanting bulbous plants, immediately transplant the children.
- palms and other large woody plants love tightly packed soil.
- Begonias, Decembrists and epiphyllums like loose soil.
- herbaceous plants, such as spathiphyllum, can be divided during the transplanting process.
- curly and ampelous - it is good to shorten the shoots for easy replanting.
- In beautifully flowering plants, denser planting causes early flowering, and loose planting causes more vigorous growth.
Important! The root collar should not be covered with soil.
How moon signs affect flowers when transplanting
Flower transplantation in March 2022 according to the lunar calendar is carried out in accordance with the lunar phases.
Below we will describe how each of them affects plants.
The new moon is not suitable for transplanting flowers, as this is the period of transition from the waning moon to the waxing one. During this phase, plants are very vulnerable to attack. Even a small wound during transplantation can lead to the death of the flower.
The waxing moon is the ideal time to replant flowers. The phase has the most favorable effect on the root system. The roots quickly take root and begin to draw nutrients from the soil.
The full moon is similar to the new moon in its effect on plants. Therefore, no actions are carried out during this lunar phase either. Especially when it comes to transplantation.
The waning moon is an ambiguous time. During this phase of the lunar calendar, tuberous and bulbous flowers can be transplanted. For everyone else, a transplant at this time is not advisable.
ON A NOTE. Of the zodiac signs, the most favorable are Virgo and Scorpio.

How to care for flowers after transplantation
Most often, they are transplanted using the method of transferring an earthen coma, but there are other methods.
IMPORTANT! Transplantation is always stressful for flowers, even if it was carried out correctly and according to the lunar calendar.
After you have transplanted your green pet, it must be quarantined for a week, after thoroughly moistening the earthen ball.
ON A NOTE. If you replanted because of rot or because the flower was watered last time, then there is no need to water it.
In quarantine there should be shade and it should be cool.
There is no point in watering all this time. Only occasionally spray with water if the room is dry enough.
A week later, an examination is carried out. If the “patient” tolerated the procedure well, then he is returned to his usual place.
The question often arises about feeding after transplantation. So there is no point in feeding it in the next 3-4 months.
Firstly, first the roots will take root, and then master their new living space.
Secondly, the nutrients contained in the substrate will be sufficient for nutrition, and an excess of microelements will also be harmful, as well as their deficiency.
Of course, if the color did not tolerate the transplant well, it will need to be helped by adding growth and root formation stimulants to the water for irrigation. Then you need to carry out several fertilizing with liquid complex fertilizers with a high content of potassium and phosphorus.
How to properly replant house plants according to the lunar calendar
- The day before transplanting, the plants are watered abundantly.
- Prepare a new pot, thoroughly wash and disinfect it.
- Drainage is placed in the pot, then a soil mixture prepared taking into account the requirements of the plant is poured in a heap.
- The plant is removed from the old pot by turning it upside down. Hold the stem with your left hand.
- The roots are shaken off the ground, then the root system is examined to identify old and diseased roots, which are immediately removed.
- The plant is placed in a pot, the roots are straightened and the container is filled with earthen mixture without deepening the root collar, then the substrate is pressed down, leaving a space of 2-3 cm to the top of the pot.
- Plants are carefully watered along the edge of the pot. You can water through the tray.
- Place the pots in a bright and warm place, providing protection from direct sunlight.
- Transplanted plants are regularly sprayed with clean water for 6-8 days.
- It should be remembered that it is not advisable to replant plants in a flowering state. Containers for transplantation should be larger than the old ones by 1.5-3 cm, and in the case of large plants (tubs) by 8-10 cm.
Common mistakes
- The procedure is not carried out according to the lunar calendar. Once again, replanting is a very painful procedure, so the plants need help. Follow the lunar calendar to replant on the most favorable day.
- Poor quality soil. The new substrate must be nutritious.
- Using old soil. Of course, when you replant using the transshipment method, some of the soil will already be old, but the rest of the soil must be fresh. Otherwise, the roots will have nowhere to absorb nutrients.
- Sloppyness. Damage to the roots can lead to the death of the plant.
- The transplant is carried out too late. Never get to the point where you have to cut the pot open or have roots grow through the drainage holes.
What is a lunar calendar and how to use it?
The lunar calendar is a type of calendar that indicates not solar, but lunar days, as well as the phases of the moon and its position relative to the zodiac signs in the sky. It also indicates the most favorable and unfavorable days for carrying out any operations with indoor and garden plants. The lunar calendar has long been used by gardeners and gardeners, today it helps home gardeners.
When calculating favorable and unfavorable days, the following factors are taken into account:
- Phases of the lunar cycle. There are four of them: new moon, waxing moon, full moon and waning moon. Each of these phases has a special effect on the growth and survival of plants.
- Length of a lunar day, taking into account the time of year. The success of the transplant will also depend on it.
- Zodiac sign where the Moon is currently located. Each period has its own characteristics.

What to do if the flower does not come out of the container?
You'll have to cut it. Just do it very carefully so as not to damage the roots.
Is it necessary to apply fertilizers already in March?
If you have damaged the roots, then already in March you can add a root formation stimulator to the water for irrigation. The main fertilizing should be carried out after 3-4 months.
Rose care
Important: you can remove covers from flowers only when the night temperature does not drop below -5 degrees.
In most regions in March you can start pruning bush and standard roses.
Be sure to burn removed branches.
Then the plants can be fed, but most gardeners prefer to feed roses in April. Start loosening the beds.

Lunar calendar for March planting seedlings
♌
MARCH 25, Thursday. 12th, 13th lunar day from 13:54. LEO
Moon without course from 16:57
Until 17:00
Before the Moon goes into idle mode, it is recommended to plant vegetables, which can be planted as seedlings in the second half of March.
Today you can sow leeks
for seedlings, but before sowing it is better to soak the seeds so that they awaken faster.
You can germinate pepper
: to do this, you should treat the seeds with a solution of potassium permanganate, and then place them on a damp cloth in a warm place.
After the seeds hatch, they can be planted in the ground, but it is better in individual containers
so as not to have to pick them later, since these plants do not tolerate it well.
During this period it is already worth starting to dig up the garden
.
To reduce the number of weeds, the first digging should be done on the day of Leo with the waxing Moon. Next time you should dig up the garden during the days of Capricorn during the waning Moon - April 3-5, 2021
. And the third time - again during the waning Moon at the end of April or at the beginning of May in any sign of the Moon.
Houseplants
: Recommendations from the previous day apply.
Watering
: acceptable if necessary (especially moisture-loving plants that need frequent watering).
Lunar calendar 2022 for indoor plants and flowers in April
House flowers need regular replanting. There are several reasons:
- The root system “grows” out of the previous flowerpot and the ground rises, making watering difficult.
- The accumulation of hardness salts in the soil from irrigation water, which makes it difficult for the plant to feed.
- Depletion of the soil, decomposition of its organic component, which makes fertilizing less effective.
- Compaction of the soil, leading to oxygen starvation of the roots.
April warming and an increase in daylight hours are favorable for resuming work with house plants.

WANING MOON
♎
MARCH 1, Monday. 18th, 19th lunar day from 20:57. LIBRA
If your region is still full of snow on the first day of spring, you should pay attention to tree branches
so that they do not bend under the weight. Shake off wet, adhered snow to prevent branches from breaking off. You can also collect snow for future watering in a container. Clean the drainage grooves to prevent some areas from flooding after the snow melts. It is not a good idea to retain snow in the aisles, around greenhouses, or on paths, but it is better to leave the beds covered with snowdrifts, since serious frosts are still possible.
Houseplants
:
March 2021
begins with several weeks of the waning Moon, so during this period it is better not to replant flowers yet. Today is a good time to fertilize plants that have already bloomed. If fertilizing should be applied along with watering, then try not to overwater the plants today; on the days of the Moon in Air signs, abundant watering is not particularly useful, and it is better not to water at all.
Watering
: It’s better not to water the plants today.

,
SCORPIO from 23:39
Moon without course from 17:09 to 23:38
If you didn’t have time to whiten your trees last month, it’s not too late to do it now: the trunks will be reliably protected from the first spring rays
and this way you will avoid damaging them. For whitewashing use lime milk or emulsion. If you have already whitewashed trees in the fall, it is worth checking whether the whitewash layer has crumbled and, if necessary, restore it.
Houseplants
: Today you can start treating plants against pests as a preventive measure. It is worth inspecting your flowers with special care to ensure they are not infected.
Watering
: It’s better not to water the plants today.
♏
3 , Wednesday. 20th lunar day. SCORPIO
Today is a good time for pest control. For example, you can install catching belts
: special devices that prevent insects that overwinter in the soil from climbing up the trunks. Usually they are installed immediately after the snow melts. But you can do it a little earlier so as not to miss an important moment.
Today is a good time to plant cabbage
.
These plants grow especially well and produce crops if planted during the waning Moon, although other types of vegetables that produce “ground” fruits are still better planted when the Moon is waxing
.
Houseplants
: It is good to fertilize plants with beautiful decorative leaves, fight pests or carry out preventive measures against the spread of infections.
Watering
: good day for watering.
Do not forget to also regularly spray those flowers that benefit from it. Not all flowers tolerate spraying well; for example, it is better not to spray Saintpaulia
and other plants with fluffy leaves.
What is better not to do
? trim trees and shrubs, cut down trees; pinch seedlings and indoor plants; get vaccinated.
♏
4 , Thursday. 21st lunar day. SCORPIO
Moon without course from 19:10
Today you can continue work on pest control. If you have greenhouses or greenhouses on your site, now is the time to prepare them for future plantings
: They need to be cleaned and disinfected. You can install bird feeders on the site, and you can also build birdhouses if you have not installed them previously. This will help attract birds that will live near your site and will constantly destroy harmful insects.
Houseplants
: Recommendations from the previous day apply.
It is especially worth taking a closer look at cacti
. Some pests are very small, so they are difficult to notice immediately; use a magnifying glass. After treatment with special pest control agents, you can move the plants from a cooler room to a warmer one.
Watering
: a good day for watering, spraying and other water treatments for plants.
What is better not to do
? trim trees and shrubs, cut down trees; pinch seedlings and indoor plants; get vaccinated.
♏ ♐
5 , Friday. 21st, 22nd lunar day from 01:31. SCORPIO
,
SAGITTARIUS from 01:43
Moon without course until 01:42
Today you can do sanitary pruning
trees and shrubs, if the weather permits in your area. It is undesirable to prune trees if the air temperature at night drops below -5 ºС. It is worth removing those branches that have signs of frostbite, are growing inside the crown, or are broken. It is advisable to treat areas where large branches have been cut with garden varnish.
Houseplants
: if the plants have become very elongated over the winter, it is worth pinching or cutting the stems by a third or half the length. In winter there was little light, so the plants developed poorly. Since there is more light this month, plants will grow better and will delight with abundant flowering in the summer.
Watering
: acceptable if necessary (it is better to water on this day only those plants that are very moisture-loving).
What is better not to do
? plant flowers and herbs.

For seedlings, for example, you can sow
root celery
. You can add one-third soil and snow to yogurt cups, then sow 3 celery seeds. After this, the cups should be covered with film and placed on the windowsill. After the seeds sprout, it is better to maintain the room temperature around 20 ºС.
A good day to collect spruce cones
.
Houseplants
: You can start pruning plants, and it’s also good on this day to prepare cuttings and leaves of those plants that can be propagated by cuttings. After a couple of weeks, when the cuttings have taken root, they can be planted in pots (preferably when the Moon is waxing).
Watering
: acceptable if necessary.
What is better not to do
? plant flowers and herbs.
