The appearance of nematanthus (hypocyrta) is not entirely typical for an epiphytic plant. Rather, it resembles a succulent. It has leathery, thick and shiny leaves, similar to boxwood, only larger. In some varieties of nematanthus (for example, in coin) the leaves are covered with thin small hairs. Interestingly, in partial shade the pubescence becomes more intense, and in bright sun it almost completely disappears. The foliage of hypocyrta is often rich green on top, and reddish or purple below. Flower colors include different shades of yellow, orange-red and pink. There are plants with striped and speckled flowers. The petals are fused, so the inflorescence has an unusual shape - a jug or tube with a swelling at the base, a narrow “neck” and bent edges. Thanks to this, the flower resembles the shape of a fish. Nematanthus can bloom for up to four months in a row, from spring to autumn.
