Unpretentious plants with beautiful flowers

Succulents

Schlumbergera truncated, or Decembrist

This is a cactus, attractive with its bright colors. Depending on the variety, they can be red, pink, coral, white. Its stem, which resembles a segmented crab claw, looks beautiful while the plant is young. And the flower releases its main highlight - flower lights - in December.

The main thing about care

Short daylight hours and moderate coolness promote the formation of flower buds. And the flower requires moderate moisture.

Role in the interior

When in bloom, Decembrist will noticeably transform a Scandinavian or any strict minimalist interior. Fits into a vibrant ethnic setting.

Kalanchoe Brossfeld

Kalanchoe is a popular succulent, a relative of Crassula, combining delicate beauty and benefits.

He releases elegant umbrellas of bright small flowers closer to winter, foreshadowing the holidays. Flowers can be red, purple, yellow, white (it depends on your choice).

The juice of the plant relieves inflammation and heals wounds.

Care and role in the interior

Kalanchoe exhibits vitality in summer heat, in lighted windows and in partial shade. In summer it successfully survives on the balcony. And thanks to its miniature size, it will fit into any modern or Japanese interior that does not accept excesses.

The watering that is prescribed for him is only rare and moderate. And before flowering, it is recommended to reduce the amount of moisture and light for the plant.

Not succulents

Gerber Jameson

This is a similar relative of chamomile and sunflower, only brighter and homely.

Gerbera flowers can be orange, pink, sunny yellow, and always look bright.

The main thing about care

At the same time, the plant remains decorative in summer and autumn and adapts well to normal room temperatures of different seasons. Loves warmth, moderate diffused light, regular watering. Does not require special conditions.

Role in the interior

Being of African origin, gerbera fits perfectly into any warm eco- or country interior.

Spathiphyllum Chopin

This flower is a twin of the calla lily, but more adapted to home conditions. And having a “happy” aura.

Women get spathiphyllum, believing in its ability to attract happiness. And in return it doesn’t require much.

The main thing about care

The representative of the Chopin variety is the least whimsical. The main thing for him is regular intense light and periodic watering (in spring and summer - once every 2-3 days, in winter - once a week). Plus, fresh air in the summer does him good.

Role in the interior

A low spathiphyllum bush, among other things, can decorate a romantic women's lounge area, creating coziness and a positive atmosphere.

Trees and bushes for office hallways, large living rooms

1) Nolina, or “bottle tree”

This is a desert representative of the asparagus family, giant, unique, and very decorative.

In its expanded stem, the plant stores moisture and, thanks to this, acquires an exclusive appearance as it matures.

The main thing about care

Nolina can withstand the summer sun, stuffiness, and moderate coolness in winter. And the older the tree, the longer it can go without watering.

Special role in the interior

Adds something colonial to your living room or office decor.

2) Monstera deliciosa

Well, if you definitely want to make your office style colonial or tropical, like a distant island, pay attention to this bush.

The main thing about care

It grows well in warm conditions. Diffused daylight also benefits her. And its huge leaves clean, moisturize and even ionize the air.

3) Howea Belmora

And this is a nice palm tree, well adapted to indoor conditions.

The main thing about care

It grows slowly, but in adulthood it is tall and has a spectacular voluminous crown. Shade-tolerant and cold-resistant.

Special role in the interior

Pelargonium

While everyone's attention is focused on the luxurious hybrids of royal pelargoniums, the modest zonal pelargonium (Pelargonium hortorum) still does not disappear from window sills. Shields of pink or red fragrant flowers, easily recognizable rounded leaves with coarsely toothed edges, covered with a special edge and sensitive to the weather - always a relevant classic.

It is no coincidence that zonal pelargonium adorns flower beds in parks and open windows in Spain: it has no equal in its ability to bloom even in the wind. And in rooms, if we are not talking about frost, she is also not afraid of drafts.

Pelargonium requires standard care - stable soil moisture, frequent fertilizing, annual pruning and cool wintering.

Features of growing perennial everflowering plants

Ever-flowering plants will help fill your apartment with bright colors. Their cultivation has some specifics:

  • unlike most flowers, they do not have a dormant period at all or it is not clearly expressed;
  • flowering requires a lot of effort, so such plants should be fed more often;
  • once a year, evergreens must be transplanted into a larger pot or transferred to the same one, changing the soil;
  • During the flowering period, it is important not to forget about watering, otherwise the plant may drop its buds.

Interesting! Psychologists believe that having plants in your home that bloom during the cold season is very beneficial for mental health. They serve to prevent depression.

Otherwise, caring for ever-flowering plants is no different. It is important to observe the temperature regime, water, fertilize and replant flowers on time.

There are many unpretentious plants that are ready to delight with luxurious flowers all year round. Everyone will be able to find something to their liking and turn their home into a real magical garden.

Papyrus

Few plants fill a room with sounds like Cyperus . The large bushes of this swamp inhabitant enliven the room with a rustling sound even at the slightest movement of air. Long thin “legs” of shoots, which are crowned with narrow grass-like leaves gathered in umbrella-like whorls, create inimitable spreading bushes.

Cyperuses do not tolerate hypothermia, but they are not afraid of drafts - provided that the shoots do not break. By placing the bushes on an open window, you can additionally protect them with a circular harness for greater stability.

Cyperus needs constant, high soil moisture, average room temperatures and very infrequent feeding. It grows quickly and is also easily restored, but does not tolerate drought.

Undemanding flowers for the office

Evergreen plants with decorative shoots and leaves, undemanding to watering and heat, are ideal for cabinets and offices.

1) The first in the ranking of such flowers is Zamioculcas , a succulent from the aroid family.

It is ideal for creating a small office oasis. The color and shape of its leaves relax the eyes and inspire pleasant thoughts.

The main thing about care

With all this, the flower perfectly tolerates cold, drafts and drought, and remains green all year round.

2) Bamboo Lucky, or Dracaena sandela

Small indoor bamboo, straight or curved, is an ideal decor for a young office. It is already popular and is associated with fresh, non-trivial solutions and promise. And it is even considered a talisman of good luck.

The main thing about care

In fact, it is a relative of dracaena and asparagus, and not natural oriental bamboos. And, similar to dracaena, it easily tolerates dryness and does not require any feeding.

Plus, this bamboo can be safely grown in water.

3) Syzygium paniculata, bonsai

Wild Syzygium is an evergreen, lush and vigorous shrub well adapted to tropical heat and humidity.

The bonsai of this plant grows up to 30 cm. Its branches form a lush crown, and the leaves turn red at a young age, which makes the tree more decorative. Sometimes attractive white inflorescences appear on it, giving way to fruit balls.

The main thing about care

It is well adapted to summer heat and moderate winter coolness. But light and a lot of moisture are the basic conditions for preserving its beauty.

What plants cannot tolerate even light drafts?

When choosing plants that can withstand a draft and settle near an open window sash, you need to be careful. Crops that are best protected from them, not only in winter, are often advertised as draft-bearing crops. Thus, drafts are contraindicated for such hardy and popular plants as money tree (Crassula oval), aspidistra, scindapsus, howea, spathiphyllum and begonias.

You should not experiment with hoyas if you want to achieve maximum decorativeness from them (and not only during flowering). Nolina bocarneya won't tolerate them either. A slight draft, even for a cissus birch, is permissible only in summer and if there is no “cooling effect”. And anthurium, with all its love for fresh air, does not tolerate drafts.

When choosing a plant, check individual recommendations and temperature guidelines. They usually indicate the houseplant’s dislike for drafts.

Sansevieria

The list of draft-tolerant plants would be incomplete without Sansevieria . The pike tail with its long, sword-shaped, tough, leathery leaves growing from underground rhizomes is familiar to everyone. And although the plant seems a little boring, it is irreplaceable. Sansevieria is only afraid of cold. And such winds that can overturn it. She will not be afraid of the usual light drafts from a slightly open window in the summer.

Minimal care and the ability to withstand any drought make sansevieria a suitable candidate even for extremely busy gardeners.

Ficus - variety of colors and sizes

All ficus trees are decorative in their own way. There are monochromatic and variegated species, compact bush-like specimens, and tall trees with elastic leaves.

  • To place an unpretentious ficus, it is better to choose a place with diffused light.
  • Moving a houseplant from one place to another is not recommended.
  • Ficus loves high humidity, so it needs to be sprayed at least during the heating season.
  • Due to too much or insufficient watering, the ficus can shed its leaves, so it is necessary to monitor the condition of the top layer of the earthen clod and water it after it dries.
  • To form a crown in the spring, the flower requires pruning.

Chlorophytum

Delicate, easily broken even when rubbed, narrow leaves in lush rosette bunches look very elegant. But Chlorophytum for its long lashes of shoots bearing inconspicuous loose inflorescences, then giving way to miniature rosettes with aerial roots. This unpretentious indoor plant always grows quickly and recovers well.

Chlorophytums tolerate normal drafts and high temperature fluctuations without problems. Because of this, they are considered one of the best plants for the kitchen. They do not like the cold, but in the summer they grow in the wind. Chlorophytum only needs standard watering and occasional feeding.
